Which cement plants in the world are using RDF?
We are a professional Biomass/RDF/SRF/TDF Briquette System machine manufacturer, We provide turnkey and custom solution services.

LafargeHolcim (France): France’s LafargeHolcim has been using solid recovered fuel (SRF) and refuse-derived fuel (RDF) in cement production since 1980. In 2019, its plant in Martel-Toulouse used 17,000 tons of SRF and 7,000 tons of municipal solid waste to produce 90,000 tons of clinker, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 13,000 tons, equivalent to taking 9,000 cars off the road.
ACC (India): India’s ACC has been co-processing waste in cement kilns since 2002. In 2020, its Wadi Cement Plant in Karnataka used 73,000 tons of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, including RDF and plastic waste, as alternative fuels, reducing its dependence on fossil fuels and traditional raw materials. The company’s energy consumption was 50.75 kWh per ton of cement that year, which is at the lower level in the industry.
Brevik Cement Plant in Norway: Brevik Cement Plant in Norway has been producing clinker with alternative fuels since the 1980s. The alternative fuels used include refuse-derived fuel (RDF). After a series of modifications, such as adding alternative fuel storage silos, installing feeders, adding combustion chambers, and installing chlorine bypass systems, the use of alternative fuels has increased to 60%, while the output remains unchanged, while CO emissions from the chimney are less than 0.1%, and TOC emissions are as low as 6mg/m³.
Huaxin Cement: In October 2024, a cement company in Sichuan reached a strategic cooperation with Zhongshan Srid Environmental Protection, using Srid’s DWS alternative fuel preparation system to prepare industrial solid waste such as leather scraps, waste fabrics, and waste plastics into high calorific value RDF alternative fuels with an impurity content of less than 10%, a high degree of homogenization, and an output size of about 50mm, thus achieving continuous and stable production and operation of RDF alternative fuels in cement kilns.
